Awesome Zelda Tribute coming

While Brett and I are the only ones who have played the original Zelda, I thought you guys might be interested in this....
In the butt.

You know what time it is?

Hey! You know what we haven't had in a whole month or so? An announcement of a new genesis collection from Sega.

Well, worry not, Sega are back on the ball and are going to release another genesis collection next year. WHOA!

This time it is for the DS and will contain Sonic 1-3 and Sonic and Knuckles, so if you are sick on playing these games on your PS3 or Xbox, through PSN or Xbox Live, on your PSP or through Virtual Console then you can finally play them on the DS. yay.

In other news the new Zelda supposedly features Ganon as the baddie.

Oh and American Dad season 4 is amazing Daniel. Amazing. They keep the jokes about Asians coming.

BTW Kieren if you want to go to the shops tonight (Thursday) I should be down with that, a few platformers came out today that were meant to come out last week.
How far are you in Mario?

Platforma powa

Klonoa: Secret best platformer ever!

While this gen has seen a drop of in my genre of choice, platformers seem to be on the rise... like my pants. They get higher everyday, don't ask me to explain it I'm just channeling thoughts.
Anyway, man it's hot, the K-dizzle and I were discussing all the cool 2d platformers that have come out this gen: Mario, Klonoa, Wario etc but I realized we missed three of the best.
So check it:

PS3 (PSN) Bionic Commando Rearmed.

'... the greatest creative work in the history of civilization' 1up.com

This is a remake of one of the best lesser known NES games out there. The remake was made as a way of promoting the sequel that was in development and ended up surpasing the game it was meant to be pimping.
Not only was the game an excellent recreation, it added a bunch of new levels, new bosses and most importantly a whole host of challenge levels similar to the 'Break the Target' levels in Smash Bros. I just finished it recently and I've got to say that the effort that has been put into it is equal to that of a full price game.

Too bad the company that did it didn't put the effort of a full price game into the sequel which was one.

Oh, and the music... pure heaven.

PS3, 360, Wii Mega Man 9

When Capcom announced that they were making a 8-bit sequel to Mega Man everyone was expecting big things. What we weren't expecting though was that it would be the best in the history of the series.
MM9 takes everything that was great from each of the games and crams it into one amazing package.
Oh and it is one of the hardest games ever made, we are talking Ghouls and Ghosts here.
I've had it for over a year now and just got up to the last boss yesterday. It is without mercy... but so awesome at the same time.

Plus you can put Mega Man in blackface. That's awesome.

Wii Muramasa: The Demon Blade

W
hile it is hard to tell from a dodgy youtube video, the developers of this game are known for being the best in the business when it comes to 2d animation. It's more of a shinobi type game than a straight platformer but it is still worth a look.
The game the company released before this was Odin Sphere which looked beautiful but had the most boring gameplay in the world. Reportedly they've made the game super exciting to make up for Odin Sphere but every time I see it in motion I get flashbacks so I'm not sure if I'll get it right away.

Top 50 worst lines in gaming

This is so good that I started typing the post before the video even finished.

41, 30,26 & 9 are brilliant.

"Hold me if I'm dying and vice versa ok?'

I'm back, back from the future.

For those that don't know yesterday my brain started to spasm and shut down right in front of Kieren's eyes, though he did miss the grand finale that came later. I'm getting better now but there was an hour or so where I developed a form of asphasia and kept asking Kieren if we were going through the 'Toll piece'. It sounded right at the time.
When I got home I looked for a piece of cheese in the meat tray and searched the freezer for panadol, it was awesome.
All the time I knew what my purpose was (be it a word or an item) but I couldn't quite lock onto it, as if it were shrouded in fog. Messed up.
But anyway most of the effects have cleared up, I still get a splitting headache when I lower my head for some reason but I'll take that over all the problems I was having yesterday.

The doctors did a full body test, I got hooked up to a bunch of machines whose acronyms I used to know the meaning of in my undergraduate years, and it turns out nothing was irreversibly damaged.
I've been told that not enough blood was reaching my brain and that there was nothing much I could do to prevent it other than drink water, cut down stress and get a higher blood pressure.

So anyway, that's my amazing story for the week. So how have you guys been?
Kieren did you end up getting Mario?
Daniel, have you finished Dragon Age?
Brett, have you played Okami?
Geoff, can i haz cheezeburger?

New Super Mario Bros Wii reviewed.

First review is up

Something Kieren will want to hear: 'NSMBW is absolutely brilliant in single-player... Essentially, we prefer the game in single-player.'

Also it's not mentioned in the review but there will be 74 levels.

Well unfortunately Modern Warfare 2 comes out two days before and while I'm not big on war games it is hard not to get excited after seeing this trailer (except for the Eminem part):

Also the new Silent Hill comes out that day, choices choices.

Anyway regardless I feel that NSMBW would be a great game to buy some candies and pepsis for, then hunkering down at Kieren's house watching him swear at the screen. So I'm inviting myself over to your house to watch you play through it. Just like Galaxy a few years back.
Probably prefer that we did a single player run rather than multi.

Venting about SCIV Part 2

Ok, one thing I didn't mention in the last post was that SCIV is a good game. It took Soul Calibur 3's engine and made it prettier. The basic fighting engine is still there and hell, compared to other big releases it actually has a decent amount of content so don't feel that it is utter shit or anything. It's a damn good fighter... just not as good as it could be.

Now, having said that, there are a few issues with my last post that will actually make SCIV sound WORSE than I already made it sound.

Ok, first of all, I mentioned that there are survival, time attack and I might have said team attack modes as well.

Nope, checked last night. None of those are in it.

Wait... come on right? No Survival and Time attack? Sure, Team attack has been absent (for no known reason) for a while but Survival and Time attack are staples of the genre.

It doesn't help I just got Namco's new fighter that is packed with content.

(Anyway here is a break down)

Survival kind of got taken over by the descending mode of Tower of Souls but really you are only then left with:

Story Mode: A series of five battles against multiple enemies (more than five, they kind of tag in... which makes the absence of team battle even more bewildering) vaguely telling a story. On the pro side, most of the endings are badass.

Arcade Mode: This is your standard 'arcade mode'. Now I say that because in Tekken 'Arcade mode' is something totally different, an endless stream of fighting emulating playing in the arcades against other people where you earn prizes.

Tower of Souls Ascending: 'Missions' - A series of fights where you fight enemies with different stats and abilities (i.e invisibility). The coolest of the modes.

Tower of Souls Descending: 'Survival... kinda'

and that's it.
There is Online play but it is so broken that no-one plays.
Oh and I should also mention that it is a lot less flashy than previous SC's to make it more balanced, which is good in a way but also not good... in a bigger way.

Now the fighting engine is still there but I don't know, I'd like some more content. There are heaps of movies and back history and character items to unlock but in terms of gameplay modes it just comes up short next to SCIII... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Now, we looked last time at the characters IV bought to the table so now let's look at who SCIII brought. Note, in both versions I'm only talking about the brand new characters, not user created doubles made in Create a Character.

Oh wait, first off let's cover Soul Calibur II.

Just for yo' info: SCII brought Talim the quick fighter who fights in the name of wind (I guess someone has to stand up for wind... I know I do) and the Bowiesque (see I made it one word) Fencer Raphael who turns out to be A) A drunk and B) Evil. Damn Bowie.

On top of that SCII added Cassandra and Yun-Seoung copies of Sophitia and Hwang, they are kind of important to mention because, while they acted as doubles in SCII for the most part, in SCIII and IV they became completely seperate characters with totally different movesets.

The Necrid Phenomenon.
Finally the console exclusives Link/Heihachi/Spawn and Necrid. Now Link was considered the best of the three but let's talk about Necrid. I recently listened to a podcast where they discussed what i'm coining as 'The Necrid Phenomenon'. Supposedly, all around the world (this is just a rumour) the phrase 'That is so Necrid' was used by gamers for a while to describe anything bad. Everyone seems to think that they invented the phrase meaning that in some Jungian collective unconscious everyone decided that Necrid was so bad that they had to name other bad things.

Alright so that is done with, basically SCII brought in two new characters and sowed the seeds for two others... it was also the last appearance of Inferno (big deal).

Soul Calibur III

Ok this is what you've been waiting for. First off let's start with the new characters.
Note: The videos I've posted are SCIII so they look a little dated.

Zasalamel - The first time I saw some art of this dude in Hyper, I knew I had to get this game. This guy is basically the grim reaper - complete with Scythe. You know how awesome a Scythe is? Fucking awesome. So awesome I want to scream out 'Hwang' everytime I see it (this is the 'Hwang Phenomenon').
Not only that, his fighting style is visceral. Every character in SC has one or two really flashy moves, usually involving fire or electricity. With Zasalamel, every single move feels like one of those. He was the new villian and the boss was a powered up version of him, so Namco made him droolworthy. Unfortunately to balance out the game a lot of his flashy is gone in SCIV. Tears.

Tira - Tira is quite cool. She is a jester who uses what can only be described as a sharp hula hoop to attack. See, that is some original stuff right there.

Setsuka - When I first saw a drawing of Setsuka I didn't think much of her but now, after seeing her in action, I actually think she is the best character in the series and I envy players who can use her complex style.
She is a japanese wanderer who has one of those paper umbrellas. Inside the umbrella is a hidden sword. Sounds cliche yes but it is awesome in play.

Gotta stop playing Tekken and keep writing this.

Ok so on top of that there was a new boss Abyss, who was a Hyper version of Zasalamel. Deeply hidden in the game, so much so that I didn't know about it until IV came out, was the true boss 'Night Terror'. What you had to do to get him though was so insane that only the most dedicated of players (like me baby) got to him.

On top of that (again) Cassandra and Hwang became new characters, as did Seigfried (not a Nightmare clone anymore or visa versa), Kilik and Seoung Mi-Na did as well and a new character based on Raphael appeared (amy).

But the three big ones I've boldened for you, cause that's what I do... bold things... with my mouth. Think about it.

So that's enough about chracters, I think they speak for themselves but what do I know, let's look at the content.

First off the bat there was a story mode. This is your usual so let's skip it. Again, mad cutscenes.

Second is something quite bizarre. Chronicles of Swords mode. This is a 30+ hour RTS game where you move units around a map and if they hit each other it goes into a SC battle. It seemed way to complicated and demanding so I've never even tried it.

Quick play is arcade mode, natch.

After that is World Competition mode, this allows you to compete in a series of escalating tournaments each more difficult than the last and unlocks various items, weapons and custom characters. Excellent mode.

Soul Arena - This one is the big mode that will engulf your time.
It's like Edge Master mode (the missions) but instead of offering 150 missions that are minor variations of a usual SC fight, it offers 12 different modes where the gameplay of SC has been changed dramatically. Everything from racing to collect coins during a fight to fighting a Giant Colossus who is so huge you can only see his feet!

Closest thing I can think of to compare this to is SSBM and the target tests. These are 12 games within games, plus the Chronicles of Swords mode. If you add everything up you are getting about 3 full priced games which are full of content.

On top of that you've got heaps of movies and background stuff to unlock. I put about 100 hours into the game and I'm nowhere near unlocking everything, several stages I've seen in videos I've never come across in the game. There are 32 stages in all, 32 including a cool one which is in total darkness except for two spotlights on the players.
Just to compare: SCII had 16 stages and SCIV had 18.

Crap, I've just convinced myself I need to go back and play this again.

It wasn't all roses though, in some of the story mode's cutscenes there were some button presses you had to do that snuck up on you and it didn't have a Team Battle mode.
That's about it though.

Future of Namco

After playing Tekken 6 I can safely say they are back on track. All the default modes are here: Arcade, Time attack, Survival, Team Battle. Plus a quest mode which does a ranking thing that is really addictive.
On top of that Namco have once again included a game within a game. There is a lengthy beat 'em up that uses every character from the game and utilized all 100+ of their moves.
There is also a online mode and even better the Ghost system from the PSP game returns.
Basically after 150+ battles you can record a ghost, it takes all the information from your battles, how often you used each move etc and formulates a AI based on that. You can upload it and other people can practice against you while you are offline. Pretty cool.

Anyway, so I forget what the point of that was, I feel well and truly vented though.
After playing SCIV last night I convinced myself it wasn't a bad game but a good one that doesn't hit greatness. After researching into SCIII though I really feel sad that SCIV was so... empty.
Here's hoping that V comes before the end of the gen and is all the fighting we need.

I feel like i've just written an article. Needs more boobies.
Oh that is one thing SCIV added. HUGE BOOBS. Seriously, Taki's chest is bigger the rest of her Torso, it looks ridiculous.... but that's the way I want my wife.
So Brett's mum, get those implants now.

Venting about SCIV

Ok, I'm out baby, I'm out.
Handed in my second last assignment for the year today... that makes it sound like I'm not out BUT I've actually done the last one, so all I need to do is turn up to one single class next week, drop it in and me be done.
So, as I promised, the posts will flow forth unto you from the muddy river than is my colon... or brain or something... either way they both serve the same purpose. Think about it.
Oh, I didn't really promise it to any of you, it was kind of an internal thing, like I promised myself, like it was some big life changing commitment. So if I don't then don't say 'Oh but you promised me'. No no, I promised ME. If I break that I just die a little inside.

Then again breaking a promise to you guys is like breaking gas... it stinks but it kind of provides some relief. That's some mad metaphor skills for yo' ass.

So what's this post about? It's about venting. Venting is good for the soul... or was it bad for blood pressure? Either way.

Now, when something is on my mind I have to preach about it to everyone in audible range and while you guys aren't in audible range or are everyone, you will have to do.
Of course, you could just stop reading and the typing that is transmitting the passion that lies in my soul will simply reverberate emptily through electric corridors infinitely until the end of time, which would mean that it's not that infinite but whatever, but if you did that then I would think you to be quite the slag.

So let's get to it.

Tekken 6 comes out in nine hours or so but I'm not here to talk about that, I'm here to talk about Namco's other fighting game release this generation: Soul Calibur IV.

Soul Calibur IV is a great game...

... if you didn't play Soul Calibur III.

Now, first off, while it was released on the PS2, not a lot of people played Soul Calibur III. Why? Well, turns out most people who bought Soul Calibur II actually got it for the gamecube and I guess most of them didn't have a PS2 because far less people seem to have played it.

It's unfortunate because SCIII in hindsight is by far the best in the series.

... but let's talk about IV for a minute.
On the surface, IV seems pretty cool. It's got all new graphics and some awesome new levels, ok that is a given. It's got new critical attacks (instant death moves that can be used if a player blocks too much) which are cool but are only used very very rarely and finally it got rid of the Soul Charge... and praise be for that.

What people buy fighters for (or I do anyway) is for two things, new playable content and new characters. Hell, back in the day, Street Fighter II getting FOUR new characters was INSANE even if one of them was a Mexican Indian and another was called Dee Jay.

Alright, so let's get the low down on SCIV. It shipped with four new fighters which is pretty decent. Hell it's the same as SSFIV, so it's awesome right?... Well on the surface.

The Force is not strong with these ones.

So let's get the obvious part out of the way first. Two of those characters are Star Wars characters.
What does that mean? Well it means no one uses them.
Not because they don't fit into the universe (they don't but whatever), no it's because they use a different fighting system altogether that has been determined by avid players to be super overpowered.
Imagine putting Virtua Fighter's fighting system in Tekken but only for two characters, it would be weird right?
Well it is. As a result they are only fun for messing around with. If you play as them in versus the other player will call you cheat or think that it is your first time playing. This is just playing SC with some friends at uni, not even near tournament level.

The second problem with these characters is that they are a one off. Like Link in SCII, they aren't going to be around in the next installment. It takes a long time to learn the moves of a character and to truly master a fighting style it can take months of gameplay... to know that when the next game roles around you'd have to choose a new character master really means that people aren't going to be using these dudes for more than a few joke matches.

Finally the Xbox version included Yoda instead of Vader. Not only would he look silly fighting, the character is fundamentally broken. His small stature makes him impossible to hit making him even cheaper.

The New Challangers.

So that leaves two newcomers right? Well kind of.

The first is Algol... which is a weird name. (the fighters in the video are terrible by the way)

Anyway while he is playable he is also a boss character.
If you know anything about boss characters in video games you know that they are grossly overpowered and guess what? Algol is too.
Algol is the only character in the series who can use projectiles but even without them he has a plethora of cheap moves. As such, like the Star Wars characters, you use this guy in a versus match and you are going to be called a wimp. Of course, in tournament play he is a big no no.

Don't get me wrong though, designwise Algol is completely awesome. He is by far the coolest boss character to appear in a Soul Calibur game and that's a big call as Soul Calibur III had a pretty cool boss.
I mean the guy weilds Seigfreid's sword in one hand and Nightmare's in the other, you know that's got to be awesome.

So that leaves just one character to join the ranks. Hilde.

Hi, I'm Generic.

Well, she fights kind of like Seong Mi-Na with a halberd and a small blade for up close. She's generally well regarded and said to be quite strong in the hands of a good player but she's not too flashy which is fine but... this is Soul Calibur.

Now, also present is the Create a fighter mode that returns from SCIII. However, while in SCIII you could base your character's moves on any other character PLUS five extra fighting styles, in IV you can only base it on the other characters. In other words five whole balanced characters were removed from IV.

The Modes

SCIV had a lot of modes for a fighter but compared to SCIII it was a bit of a step back. Your usual Arcade, Time Attack and Survival are there coupled with a weird story mode that has you fighting multiple people at the same time.
The Create A Fighter mode is there and while it offers more visual options than 3 it really misses the bonus fighting styles.
There is online and finally there is the Tower of Souls mode which replaces mission mode.
Really this is two different modes: Ascending and Descending.
Ascending is mission mode basically, each fight pits you against a character with a different ability, they may be invisible or only can be hit by unblockables etc.
Descending is a weird tag team survival match that is quite cool and quite hard. It really changes the game up making it a lot more tactical and is quite a cool addition.

Stay tuned tomorrow for when I talk about the awesomeness of SCIII

Oh and Daniel, I counted, Johnny Yong Bosch (the Black Power Ranger) does the voices in 18 games I own and about 4 animes. What the fuck? It's like I'm his biggest fan by accident.
Also Tim Curry is in Dragon Age... that's awesome.

Where be the posts at?

Where be the posts?
Where be the posts?

I've been writing about fifteen thousand essays in the past two weeks and I haven't had time to write anything else. Also, after four years of wang jokes things get recycled, like Brett's mum recycles around... you get the picture.
I was thinking of making a major change soon, like converting to christianity or changing the layout or something... probably the second one.

So Douche Productions may get a new name!

I've got one I'm thinking of putting up but if you guys think you've got a good name that captures the intellectual nature of this site *squeaky fart* then post it in ye olde comments section.

Useless crap.

Kieren was telling me the other day that the Dreamcast intro to Doa 2 had a mad cheese song rock song in it. I listened to it and man it was cheesy. Personally I don't dig it but whatever.

I tried to find a link on youtube but all of them had people talking over it so no go.

I think the award for the cheesiest song ever to accompany the intro to a fighting game goes to Street Fighter IV:

Personally I'm a fan of the Tekken 5 Intro, not just for the cheesy song but as an intro as a whole.

Tekken 5

The song would have been great if it wasn't badly translated from Japanese, it's got that Sonic Heroes I-can-win-with-the-power-of-friendship feel:

I'm here now
I'm doing the best I can
Where are you now?
Did your dreams come true?
Here we go

Get out, Get out
SPARKING
Get out
SPARKING

What does the word "peace" mean?
There should only be a smiling face?
Answer me, reticent God
But the sun rises again
When will that time return?
Swear you won't give up

Break out
Everything day by day
Freak out
Anything step by step
Live the Sin and Let me know Live the Sin
Break down
Make my story
Get down
They are called history
My Heartbeat gonna be faster
Shout, Shout, Shout, Shout Soul

Destiny or deadly
I don't care which ones walking this way
They're nothing together
What if I go back to zero?

Get power of infinity
All men together make one man at the time of an important decision
Please do not lose your vision
You're the one. Show me only your dance in earnest
Even if wrapped in darkness
Light is beyond the horizon

SPARKING
Believe your own energy
SUPER KING
Get by my hands
SPARKING
Now, Open your wing
SUPER KING
You can do it
Get up, Get up, Get up, Get up, Get up
Take it to the top of the world
SPARKING!!

Now that is truly a work of genius...?

Always thought the Soul Calibur 2 intro was pretty cool too, not a good song though:

Soul Cali 3 was good too which I mayas well post as none of you have a ps2. SCIV was abysmal though, really an insult to my brain... which is hard to do.

The Nose that stared back at me.

I just had to review Heroes of Might and Magic 3, of all things, for some friend. I is Rulez.

BEHEMOTH!!!!

Daniel will get that.

I spent the best part of my class today starring at a guy's face was real or some kind of plastic clip on... my brain can't comprehend such confusion.

Anyway first things first. Daytona is getting a HD Remake.
Really, Daytona is looking pretty bad right now, I go to arcades and it is the oldest non-King of Fighters game I can find there... except for that Star Wars pinball machine with the broken knob. I feel it's pain.

In other news a game called Black College Football: The Xperience- The Doug Williams Edition just game out and was reviewed by IGN with the amazingly high score of 3.5.
Where to start with this one?

First of all, I didn't know there were Black Colleges, I assume they mean Black as in the race, not some Akademy of Dark Magik out of Lord of the Rings or something (The 'K' I used in Academy makes it seem like all mystical and stuff).
Anyway I looked up this Black College Football to see if it, and the colleges that spawned it, actually existed and found that there is a national championship for the sport. Here is what Wikipedia had to say:

'The Black College National Championship is a mythical national championship won by the best black college football team(s) in the United States of America.'

Mythical? Ah, I was right about the Akademy then!
Also shouldn't it be 'Competed in by' instead of 'won'? I mean having 'won' does make sense but written like that it sounds like they don't even have to try, they just win by default.

It turns out 'Mythical Nation Championship' is actually some term only American football people understand but that makes it less funny.

Now, first things first. This is the first time I've heard about Black Colleges because Whitey be ignorant yo. While I can understand the logic behind the existence of colleges in America as you have to buy your way into uni over there, doesn't it kind of create a schism that everyone is trying to avoid?
Doesn't having a place called 'Black College' suggest that there is a difference between races? It'd be like having an Asian College... oh wait that is UNSW, I kid I kid... not really but.
So anyway, say no to racism, don't read this blog... oh and make everyone go to college.

Anyway let's get to the next part of the title: The Xperience.
The 'X' makes it sound cool.

Finally: The Doug Williams Edition.
I've got no idea who he is but I'm sure he is cool.
I did some checking and there is a 'Classic edition' which presumably features little to no Doug Williams... I initially had a big thing saying why make a Doug Williams edition when there are no other editions, then I saw there was another one. The end.

So go out and pick up a copy of Black College Football: The Xperience: The Doug Williams Edition.
Doug Williams would want you to.

Enough of pretending to be mad racist, let's be mad sexist:

This isn't actually sexist but I thought it to be quite the cool.
I have an online friend... because I have no real friends... who is a full dyke... as opposed to a partial one.
Then end.

Anyway she isn't one of those cool buff dykes who bench press 120 kilos with their face but instead one of those weird arty types who go to renaissance fairs (she actually does) and look like they might not wash (I made that part up).
While feminists/lesbians usually don't have a sense of humour (for any feminist/lesbian who was offended by that, it was only a joke... now you know what one sounds like... just joking... or am I?) on the videogame site she visits, under her location she wrote ... well I'll let you see for yourself.
You'll know it when you see it.
Sure, it is insanely offensive but a chick wrote it so it is ok.

Heihachi Mishima is dead

I've been meaning to do a big post about the gayness of Star Trek, which I've been watching a lot recently, I'm ashamed to admit. Anyway, the stupidity of that article has turned me off doing it. It'll happen eventually.

Anyway with Tekken 6 coming out in two weeks my thoughts have turned to Virtua Fighter 5.
After geeking it up and attending a few fighting game tournaments I was sad to find that no one was playing VF5, it was all Soul Calibur this and Street Fighter that... which is fine but VF5 is meant to be the perfect test of skill, where (to qoute a review) an experienced player can never lose to a newbie mashing the controller. And in a world where people count the frames of animation in Street Fighter in order to develop the best combos you would think that the most complex fighter out there would still have some players.
It seems not.

Shoyruken forums are the be all and end all of fighting game forums with specific boards for everything from SFIV to crazy obscure stuff like Melty Blood. VF5 doesn't get one though.
I then went to Gamefaqs and checked the forums for each game. While DOA4, a game that came out before VF5, is still going strong, all VF5's topics are so old they have been locked.

Now, all is not lost, VF5 is still played at Super Battle Opera (some Japanese tournament) and it is still considered to be the fighter that all other games are measured against so all is not lost. I've said that twice now, guess I don't like to beat around the bush... just the face... of your dad.

When I look at my copy that got a grand total of fifteen minutes play time (may be a slight exaggeration) I really think that I should put some time into it. Unfortunately, fighting games are made to be played against other people so it falls to you guys (who own it... so Matt and Kieren) to become awesome so we can holds tournaments with blowjobs and aids and Brett's Mums as prizes.

Anyway I hear there is an excellent tutorial sequence in the game and to get really good with a character it takes about five hours. Now sure, that's a whole weeks worth of 'bating condensed into one big burst (oh my) but at the end of it you can say 'Hey, I'm good at a game no one will ever play or care about'.

You know you want to.

The title of the post by the way comes from Tekken 5 where they announced one of the main characters was dead... who came back later in the same game. It's like my totally metaphysical way of saying that Tekken is like transient while VF is everlasting or some knobbery like that.

Brutal Legend.

Yeah it's been a while, I'll do a full post later.

Just a quick one though, Matt showed me this and I have to pass it on. It looks like this game was developed specifically for Kieren in mind.

Check out this video

At least watch till the menu screen (about 5 seconds in). You select what you want to do in the game by unboxing a vinyl. Quite the cool.

October 6th is the day that will go down in history...

.... as the day that the NEW ROCKET KNIGHT ADVENTURES GAME WAS ANNOUNCED.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
EXTREME CLOSE UP!

if I wasn't so sick right now I'd do a little dance. 2.5d mofo! And it's not a remake but a whole new game based on sparkster.

Did you guys know that Sparkster had a nemesis who has appeared in every game? The guy is called Axel Gear. That's the most Awesome/90's name ever!

Must calm down.
